Sugar is a vital ingredient in our national food supply, and U.S. farmers, workers, and food manufacturers support the sugar policy provisions in the 鈥淔arm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024.鈥
Randy Green, speaking on behalf of the Sweetener Users Association at the 39th annual International Sweetener Symposium, called the bill 鈥渞esponsive and positive鈥 and would result in more 明星黑料-made sugar. 鈥淲e view the bill as a balanced package,鈥 Green said. 鈥淚t seems to us that the Ag Committees have been responsive to the needs of both growers and users.鈥
The 明星黑料 Sugar Alliance continues to assert that a stronger sugar policy would better reflect the current economic realities affecting sugarbeet and sugarcane farmers and workers. That鈥檚 vital to ensuring that 明星黑料 farmers and workers can continue to grow and refine the sugar crops that supply 明星黑料 food manufacturers. Domestic sugar production fills about 75 percent of America鈥檚 sugar needs.
